Bedrooms to Dream About

A good night's sleep will impact on your physical and emotional health. It can impact on how you perform at work and how you cope with stress - either in your personal life or career. Being tired can increase your risk of mistakes, and if you're driving a car, it can increase your chances of an accident. Some scientists have made a correlation between poor sleep and cancer, saying lack of sleep can interfere with the body's defence mechanisms. Studies have also said poor sleep can make you obese, impact on your mental performance (crucial if you're a student taking exams!), and trigger depression.

One of the things you can do is invest in bedroom furniture - especially a decent bed - that will help create a functional and aesthetic environment designed to help you drift off into a peaceful slumber. There are several things you can do to aid sleep.

Keep your bedroom clutter free and tidy. This can help empty your mind. This is especially true for those who are clean freaks or tidy-uppers. If your wardrobe is over spilling or there are dirty mugs on your bedside table, it can leave you feeling restless.

- Invest in bedroom furniture that helps you relax. A bedside table with a bedside lamp is important if you love to read in bed - this means you won't have to physically get up to switch the light off. And a decent bedside table will give you space for your glasses, book, cup of cocoa and night time paraphernalia.

- Buy a big, beautiful bed you'll long to sink in every night is of course essential. A lumpy, small or uninviting bed isn't good enough! And invest in cotton sheets and good pillows.

- Turn your bedside clock to the wall. Yes, you may need it for its alarm but watching the early hours tick by will only make you anxious and self conscious about getting to sleep.

Bedrooms should be restful, peaceful and inviting rooms. Consider soft fabrics and cushions and ensure you invest in thick curtains or black out curtains and soft lighting. Investing in beautiful and functional bedroom furniture is your fundamental building block to a good night's sleep.
