Bunk Beds

If you have children, the selection of beds for their bedrooms can become an overwhelming experience because of the many styles available. Before buying a bed, you need to consider the size of the room and the number of bedrooms in your home. If you're dealing with space issues or a limited number of rooms, you might consider bunk beds.

The versatility of bunk beds delights parents, and kids alike. They come in many different styles and colors and can be accented for both girls and boys. They are usually made of wood or metal. The top beds have a ladder and always come with safety rails. You need to be very careful about letting small children sleep in a bund bed, especially on the top. Some bunk beds come with space for storage under the bottom bed, and some have drawers and shelves for convenience. Such additions are useful when there are space constraints.

Before buying a bunk bed, check its sturdiness by placing your hand on the top bed and shaking the whole piece to check if there is any movement. Always make sure the lighter child sleeps on the top bed. The best bunk bed to consider would be a full bed on the bottom and a twin bed on top. The wider bed below would create a better balance. Consider buying bunk beds that can be separated, because as the children grow older, the beds will be still useful. They can be used as separate beds.

Causes and Cures of Insomnia

We spend one third of our life sleeping - an activity seemingly to be useless. But we need sleep as much as we need oxygen and food. Sleep is important to us: it increases one's work efficiency, extends one's lifespan, cures illnesses. One should not deprive him/herself of sleep.

But during our lives, we will experience some sleepless nights which are considered normal. But for some people, poor quality sleep is a recurring or even a lifelong problem.

When your sleep quality is affected, the end results could well be feelings of fatigue during the day, irritability, poor memory, loss of productivity and loss of interest in family and social life.

Therefore, achieving quality sleep is very important to your physical and emotional health. The quality of sleep is associated with number of sleeping hours. Doctors normally recommend that adults should need 7 to 10 hours of sleep daily and children would require more hours. But it varies among individuals. What matters is, for the duration you sleep, are you achieving the right quality of sleep?

Insomnia, or the inability to sleep well, is a common problem which could affect anyone at one time or another. A person with insomnia may have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, wake up frequently during the night, or wake up earlier than desired the next morning.

There are two kinds of insomnia, acute insomnia and chronic insomnia.

Acute insomnia, which can last from one night up to several weeks, may be caused by:

1. A single stressful event

2. A period of emotional stress

3. Illness

4. Temporary pain or discomfort

5. Disturbances in the sleeping environment such as noise, light or sleeping in a different bed

6. A change in the normal sleep pattern, caused by jet lag or working in a late shift

This kind of insomnia usually doesn't last long once the root cause(s) is resolved. But be extra careful as insufficient sleep could cloud your judgement, leading to accidents while driving or at work.

Chronic insomnia takes longer time to recover, from months to even years. The likely causes are:

1. Mental or emotional conditions, such as depression or anxiety, or stress.

2. Poor sleep habits, such as watching television programmes in bed or going to bed at different times.

3. Excessive consumption of caffeine or nicotine laden items like coffee, tea or cigarettes.

4. Excessive drinking

5. Lack of regular exercise

6. Existing medical health problems such as breathing or heart problems, hormonal or digestive disorder, or chronic pain

7. Side effects of certain drugs

8. A different sleep disorder such as sleep apnea.

Before we go on, a little more explanation is required here for sleep apnea. It is a condition whereby a person regularly stops breathing, or has slowed breathing during sleep for 10 seconds or longer. Depending on the frequency the breathing stops (apnea) or slows (hypopnea), we classify the condition as mild, moderate or severe.

A person suffering from sleep apnea may snore loudly, and have restless sleep with difficulty breathing. As a result, he may wake up with a headache and tiredness which last the whole day. However, sleep apnea may improve with changes in sleeping habits. Sometimes, doctors may suggest use of devices to help easier breathing during sleep or even surgery.

Insomnia can be cured as long as the victim develops a regular sleeping habit.

Here are some remedies to help you ease or eliminate your sleeping disorder:

1. Reserve your bedroom for sleeping and sex only i.e. avoid eating, working, computers, TV, video or loud music in the bedroom

2. Create a clean and comfy environment for sleeping - soft lights, good ventilation, appropriate room temperature, good support pillows, sufficient comforters

3. Avoid caffeine drinks such as coffee, tea, soft drinks or chocolate drink and/or cigarettes after 7pm in the evening. Also avoid snacking before bedtime.

4. Improve your diet by reducing meat intake and eating more fruits and vegetables especially kiwi, berries, green leafy vegetables, whole grains and cereals.

5. Switch off your mobile phones, blackberries, MSN or Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ etc after a certain time at night.

6. Drink a glass of warm drink such as soymilk or herbal tea before going to bed. But remember to visit the bathroom right before bed to reduce the chances of needing to get up later to do it.

7. If you find you can't sleep after half an hour in bed, get up and read a book or listen to some soothing music. Use warm tungsten reading lamp instead of florescent lamp and don't read books which are stimulating. Avoid watching TV, VCDs or DVDs as the light from these devices are bright and will affect the body's biological clock, worsening your sleeplessness condition. You can return to bed as soon as you feel sleepy.

8. Exercise regularly does help to release tension, aiding sleep. But note not to do it late at night as this can result in insomnia.

9. Train your body to sleep and wake up at the same time every day regardless of whether it is a weekend or public holiday. The ideal time to get into bed is between 9 to 11pm so as to achieve the desired 8 hours of sleep.

10. If you need to nap during the day, try to keep it within 45 minutes which is sufficient to rejuvenate you. Napping too long may result in groggier mind and adversely affect your nocturnal sleep.

11. If you're working at home, stop work at least two hours before bedtime to allow your mind to unwind and relax.

With all these measures, doctors sometimes still need to prescribe hypnotics for sleep as treatment for insomnia. But these medications are meant for short term only while patients try to find solutions to their various acute stressful problems.

Compare a Sleep Number Bed

If sleeping is a problem for you then maybe it is time for you to purchase a new bed or mattress. One thing that you can do is to compare sleep number bed with other different styles of beds. Not getting enough sleep or a proper night's sleep can affect your performance throughout the day and it could cause problems with your health as well.

You may have seen commercials on television promoting the various beds available on the market. To compare a sleep number bed with any other style of bed requires you to do some research and information gathering. The sleep number bed allows you to adjust the firmness to the level you want while other types of beds do not have this feature. There are many different options available when it comes to the type of mattress on the market. You can find mattresses that are made from memory foam, coils and springs or even water or air.

Every company that promotes their mattress or bed will say that theirs is the best. It is up to you the consumer to determine what is best for you within your budget. One of the best ways to compare sleep number bed with another type of bed is to actually try them out yourself. Some retailers will allow you to test their mattresses in the store, while others will let you take one home for a period of thirty days for example to properly test it out under normal sleep conditions.

A great place to gather information while you compare sleep number bed against other types of beds is to browse the online forums and consumer reviews on beds and mattresses. You will not find a mattress that is one hundred percent popular. People have their own opinions so just be careful when considering peoples opinions online. Another important point to research is the warranty that the manufacturer offers. A good company will stand behind their product. If price is a factor for you, keep an eye out for sales or discounts offered at the local retailers or warehouse outlets. Good luck on your research and hopefully your new mattress will provide a much better nights sleep.

The Valuable Help of Natural Sleep Aids

Are you one of those people who seem to find it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep? Even if you have been in front of television for hours with boring shows, have counted a million sheep and have tried different sleeping positions, do you still lie wide awake in bed stressed with the fact that you cannot sleep?

If you are affirmative of these questions, then there is a great possibility that you belong to quite a huge number of people who have sleeping problems or sleep disorder.

Usually, people who seek general doctors' opinion concerning this condition are prescribed with medicines that could induce sleepiness. Furthermore, there are over-the-counter drugs, like sleeping pills that when taken, can induce sleep. However, these drugs sometimes have unpleasant side effects, depending on the person taking them. Sometimes, if a person also has other ailments or allergies or medical condition, he/she is advised against taking medicine that could induce artificial sleep.

Recently, a global health consciousness trend aroused an increasing number of people to watch out for their health and keep away from dangerous drugs and any other medication with questionable effects. Now, you can observe that most people tend to watch out their food and drug intake, and generally improve their lifestyle to achieve optimal well-being.

Furthermore, along with health consciousness, is the idea of implementing natural ways and methods that help remedy and cure their ailments and address other physical discomfort they are feeling.

Thus, with regards to sleeping problems or difficulties, there are people who have discovered natural methods to ultimately achieve restful sleep.

Contrary to others' beliefs, alternative and natural methods to induce sleep, that is, natural sleep aids are not associated with wizardry or witchcraft. These natural ways to achieve quality sleep have already been implemented quite a long time ago, but the effects of these vary among the persons who apply these methods.

Types of natural sleep aid

o Herbal remedies - there are plants with medicinal properties that could render a person sleepy. However, depending on an individual's health condition, some physicians' advice their patients against taking such herbal stuff since it may contradict with some medication they are taking for treatment of other conditions.

o Atmosphere/Environment - peaceful and serene surroundings can greatly help in promoting restive sleeping. A person may be enjoined to change their bedrooms' arrangements, encouraged to have a clean and well-ventilated house in a peaceful neighborhood in order to achieve a satisfying trip to dreamland.

o Exercise -engaging in physical activity that need not be rigorous or stressful can also aid a person to have relaxing and uninterrupted sleep. Walking or hiking, biking, swimming, doing gym exercises, or playing sports activities are physical activities that should be done in moderation.

An individual may also be encouraged to change their bedtime rituals since it may play a huge factor in his/her sleeplessness.

Other alternative natural ways to promote healthy sleep:

o Cognitive behavioral therapy

o Visualization

o Massages, Yoga and Meditation

o Healthy dieting

o Progressive muscle relaxation

These do not involve any form of artificial medication. Rather these methods help the body to settle down, in preparation for sleep. These natural aids may be a valuable help in helping you to gradually overcome your sleep disorder. However, effects may vary depending on the individual.

If you have tried any or most of these natural sleep aids and still, you failed to achieve healthy sleep, then it may be time for you to see a sleep specialist.

How to Fall Asleep Naturally

Having trouble sleeping? Does this sound familiar?

o Your brain start working overtime as soon as you go to bed

o You feel like you've tried every trick in the book to get to sleep

o Constant irritability

o Dangerous lapses in concentration whilst driving or at work

There are a number of mistakes that are killing your sleep.

You may be making several critical mistakes, during both the day and at night, which are literally killing your chances of sleeping soundly on a regular basis.

That's not really your fault though, because you never knew about them. Your doctor doesn't have the time to educate you about those mistakes - and most of the time he doesn't even know about them... since the bulk of his sleep education is being handed to him by pharmaceutical companies' marketing reps. The corporations that make billions of dollars by feeding you pills don't want you to know about those mistakes, neither do they want you to learn how to stop making these mistakes.

Studies and tests done by sleep researchers have showed that the capacity to fall asleep, then enter and stay in a deep sleep is a skill. It's something you can become good at - even if you've gotten, after a long time of poor sleep and bad conditioning, very bad at it. Many people tell me that they have tried to every trick in the book and nothing works, no matter how hard I try I still can't get to sleep.

Therein lies their first mistake, trying to fall asleep is proven to be a major contributor to sleep deprivation, the harder you try to sleep, the less likely you are to "drop off", you start thinking about trying to relax, you start working the brain, you start worrying about tomorrow, you just don't stand a chance.

To find out why you can't sleep at night, and how to overcome your sleeping problems, visit: How To Sleep At Night and pick up your free sleep analysis report.

Why Sleep is Important

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Sleep is a very important process when it comes to our continuing health. It is a natural restorative cycle that allows the body to rest and properly regenerate itself, so that it can continue to function appropriately.

There are many different physical and psychological benefits of sleep. As time progresses, and medical technology advances, we are now able to establish that lack of restorative rest can result in a variety of health complications. If you want to ensure that your overall health is optimized, this article should be helpful.

Psychological Benefits

Sleep has been proven to assist in many psychological functions of the body. For example, many individuals have found that when they get enough rest, they are able to think more clearly, and stay focused. Many even lay claim that by receiving the right amount of rest, they are able to remember things more effectively.

In addition to this, sleep plays a vital role in the prevention of depression and other types of mental illnesses. Individuals that are well rested are found to be more energetic in the body, as well as the mind. Furthermore, confidence levels are increased and there is less likelihood for stress to pose a heavy burden on one who sleeps regularly and without disruption.

Physical Benefits

There are a great number of physical benefits associated with proper sleep. One of the most important of such benefits is that of repair. In order for the body to properly repair itself, it needs to rest. During the day our body is introduced to a number of damaging elements. Theses include the natural wear and tear on our muscles and other internal systems, harmful rays from the sun, environmental pollutants, and even germs. When the body is asleep, it can focus on what is most important and repair the damage as is necessary.

It has also been discovered that the health of one's heart is optimized when we get enough rest. Many strokes and heart attacks occur during the early hours of the day. When an individual does not get the right amount of sleep, it is quite possible for damage to arise to the blood vessels. In addition to that, higher levels of blood pressure may be experienced. All of these complications can be avoided, or at least minimized, by simply ensuring that we get the right amount of sleep on a daily basis.

There are many individuals who have health conditions and diseases that result in inflammation to muscles and body tissues. With the right amount of sleep, this inflammation is drastically reduced. Individuals who get the proper amount of sleep have also been known to be stronger and more energetic throughout the day. This is partly the result of the reduction of inflammation in the body, as well as the natural repair process, that the body experiences while sleeping.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are numerous benefits that result from sleep - both physical and psychological. We can avoid serious health complications by simply taking the time each night to get a healthy amount of rest. Generally, sleeping seven to nine hours each and every single day is considered appropriate.

Take A Breath (A jobro Love Story) Chapter 3

Nick's POV:: Joe and I wandered out of our beds around noon. It was nice to sleep in once in a while. Kevin was up, of course, helping our mom make breakfast. Joe smirked and sat down at the table in the tour bus. "Mommy's helper making pancakes?" Kevin threw a dish rag at him and our mom just shook her head. I went back to sit on my bed and looked at my phone. As soon as we had gotten back last night, I had put the girls' numbers in my phone. I picked up my cell and pulled up Madison's number. I stared at it until the screen dimmed, and then I texted her. 'Hey :)' I hit send and closed my phone. She'd probably be up already so hopefully she'd text me back soon. I jumped off my bed and went to watch tv with Joe for a while. We'd be doing another show here in a few days and we'd be done with this tour. The tours were great, and all, but by the end you were more than happy for a break. Madison:: I had been up nearly two hours before Ashley started to wake up. It was almost ten in the morning before she came out and asked for breakfast. We both poured a bowl of cereal and started talking about the concert. "It was so cool! The best part was after the show, I think..." I said before eating another spoonful. Ashley swallowed her last bite. "Yeah, they were so nice...and Nick was totally checking you out.." She got up to put her bowl in the sink. "What? No, Ashley! He...he was just paying attention. More than I can say for any other guy I've met. All guys must suffer from ADD ...

A Good Night of Sleep To Die For

How well are people sleeping at your bed & breakfast? This is something you really need to be aware of. If they aren't getting a good night of rest then they may choose a hotel room the next time they are in town. There are a variety of different issues you should attend to in order to make sure everyone is able to get a very good night of sleep at your bed & breakfast.

It is hard to start a new day when you feel like you need several more hours of sleep. Make sure the beds you offer at your bed & breakfast are very comfortable. You should try to have at least a queen sized bed in the rooms you offer. This way there is plenty of room for an individual and a couple won't be too crowed to sleep well. Don't forget to offer plenty of pillows too.

Most bed & breakfast locations don't have individual thermostats in each room. Since the temperature that each person is comfortable at varies this can prove to be a big piece of making sure everyone gets a good nice of sleep. With this in mind you need to make sure you have plenty of blankets available. A thin one for those that don't need much as well as a thick comforter for those that do should cover it.

For those that will be warmer than others, offer fans in the rooms that they can turn on. Try to find those models that are very quiet and that have several settings. You can even offer those with a remote control so your guest doesn't even have to get out of bed to turn it on. When it is humid outside you can be sure your guests will really appreciate the availability of fans.

Sometimes you will have a group of guests at your bed & breakfast that will all know each other. Most of the time though you will have a variety of people that are strangers. Even though they may be friendly and get to know each other a bit, they are still strangers. Each of the rooms you have should have a secure door with locks they can initiate from the inside. A deadbolt is a must to offer them privacy and security.

If there are windows in the rooms, then they too need to offer locks on them. Some bed & breakfast locations place bars on them if they are on the ground floor as well. This may give someone additional peace of mind while they are sleeping that no one is going to be able to come in. Yet it can prevent them from having a nice view out the window too.

A fire can happen at any time of the day or night. Chances are you have been mandated to have a certain number of fire alarms and even carbon monoxide detectors in place. You also need to offer a fire escape plan for your guests. If you have a second floor then it is important that you have a ladder available as well in case they can't get to the stairs.

A good business owner will strive to make their bed & breakfast to be exceptional in as many ways as they can. Helping your guests to be able to get a good night sleep should be one of them. No matter how lovely the location is, if they aren't able to relax and sleep there they likely won't be coming back.

One Moment More Ep. 64

Here's 3 of 3! Kind of a mini marathon thing...but this is the last one for today Meanwhile... Jillian's POV *I woke up dazed and slightly confused. This isn't my room. A shift in movement next to me made me jump. It was Joe. Ohhh...I forgot that I spent the night here. I pushed the covers back and stared at the clock blankly for a few seconds..10:15...WHOA 10:15?! He began to fall off the bed. NO! Crap! Stop! Gravity! Right before he fell to the ground his eyes popped open, first looking dazed, then happy, then surprised, and then of course, he grabbed me as he fell to the ground, me on top of him.* Good...morning? In Memory of Grandma& Gramdpa with love

"WE ARE FREE" Do not grieve for us, now we are free. We have followed the path God laid for us. We took His hand when we heard Him call; we turned our backs and left it all. We could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that place at the close of day. If our passing has left a void then fill it with remembered joy. Or friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, and these things we too, will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. We are with you the sunshine of tomorrow. Our lifes been full, a loved ones touch. Perhaps our time seemed all too brief. Dont lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with us. Adirondack Chair Cushions-Comfort and Style

Once you've chosen the right Adirondack furniture for your outdoor area, you'll want to enhance its comfort and beauty with cushions. Not only will cushions make your seating more comfortable, but the patterns in your Adirondack furniture cushions will be one of the focal points of your décor in your outdoor room.

There are a wide variety of Adirondack chair cushions available ready made. You can choose from solids, stripes plaids and florals. Most come in standard sizes that will fit many patio furniture styles. Some patio furniture cushions are reversible, as well, allowing you to have two different looks with the same cushions. Choose patterns that complement the style of your furniture and the overall style of the room, as well as ones that complement the colors in your outdoor room.

Ready made Adirondack chair cushions are typically sewn from weatherproof or weather resistant fabrics, so that they don't have to be brought in when it rains. However, it's critical to check whether or not your fabric is waterproof before you buy. Not all Adirondack chair cushions are designed to be left out in the weather.

If you want to create custom Adirondack furniture cushions so that they will match with other portions of your décor, you can consider making your cushions or having them made by a seamstress. If your chosen fabric is not weather resistant, consider having the cushions laminated after they're completed. This will allow you to simply wipe off spills with a damp rag, and will keep the patio furniture cushions protected from the weather. Laminating your cushions will cost you a bit more, but it's well worth the money, considering that it makes your fabric choices virtually limitless, and that it protects your cushions for a lifetime.

Adirondack chair cushions are an important choice in your outdoor décor. Choose wisely so that your outdoor room will be a beautiful reflection of your outdoor style.

Because you want your bedroom to be a place you can relax and go to for repose, you want furniture that reflects security and peace. Amish furniture, well made, can give you just that. True Amish furniture is made by hand and employs the best traditional furniture making techniques, passed down through generations. Fathers train their sons as they work side by side to build furniture that's going to be around for generations. Woods for this furniture are chosen because they are high quality and have a beautiful grain. Every genuine piece of Amish furniture is made of solid wood and has no veneers or particleboard included.

Amish furniture can be a big investment, true, but its returns are unsurpassed. When you choose Amish furniture, look for construction materials and techniques that are of the highest quality. The pieces you choose should be made of solid wood, including having solid backs on pieces of furniture in their upright, such as dressers. The choices of wood should usually include pine, hickory, maple, cherry, oak or quartersawn oak. Hardwoods of the highest quality are kiln-dried so that they have proper moisture content. This helps prevent the woods from splitting and cracking as the piece ages.

Whether you choose a single piece or entire bedroom set, take a careful look at the construction. The Amish are renowned for their handcrafted furniture and employ traditional techniques to build solid and lasting furniture. Pieces of furniture such as chifferobes, armoires, chests of drawers, dressers and nightstands should hold up under rigorous daily use. The furniture should have dovetail joints holding the fronts and backs of the drawer boxes together very tightly. English dovetail joints give you more storage capacity than French dovetail joints do. Take a look at the drawer slides, too, because they should smoothly slide in both directions.

The bed is the centerpiece of any bedroom set, and it should be made with solid wood side rails and slats. This eliminates the need to have metal mattress frames. Cross slats should be made by either tongue and groove or should be doweled into side rails. This will make the bed extremely sturdy and strong and will eliminate any swaying. Headboards and footboards should be made with full mortise and tenon joinery, which further provides unsurpassed strength. Beds are usually made in the Traditional, Sleigh, Shaker, or Mission styles. You can also custom order Amish furniture for your own needs.

One final point to make is that when you select an heirloom quality piece of Amish bedroom furniture, take a look at the finish. Find craftsmen sand down the wood in several steps so that they are sure to have a smooth surface both inside and out. Some shops finish each piece of furniture using a five-step process. They use a top grade finish strong enough to stand up to nail polish remover. Every surface everywhere, from top sides to undersides, has been sealed and finished so that your lovely piece will be protected for years to come.

Nurses Shoes - A Blueprint to Comfort and Support

Being a nurse requires you to take responsibility for your patients care. It also means that you are standing, moving or walking anywhere between 8 and 16 hours every workday.

While a nurse is busy taking care and providing support to their patient, their feet and their shoes are providing the comfort and support they need to put the average 2,000 hours of pressure on their feet every year while healing and supporting their patient's health. A nurse has to be able to stand, walk and move easily throughout his or her day because that's what their job requires of them.

The main purpose of a good nurses shoe must be to provide the nurse with the right foot support for comfortable, long wear on a daily basis. Being a nurse, or health care professional, means putting thousands of hours of stress on their feet. This constant pressure to the feet mean that nurses are at high risk of developing foot related pain and discomfort. Typical problems nurses have by constantly standing and walking are arch pain, heel pain, such as plantar fasciitis, ball of foot pain, ankle problems, knee pain and lower back pain. These foot related problems are all issues a nurse must overcome or work through on a daily basis.

The best way to ensure that your feet can support that kind of constant pressure and movement is to know the key factors behind comfortable and supportive nurses shoes.

While there is no single right nurses shoe out there for every nurse. There are some key factors in what makes for a supportive and comfortable nurses shoe.

The four keys points to comfortable and supportive nurses shoes are a thick heel cup, a roomy toe box, a light shock absorbing sole and a neutral heel.

A thick heel cup is the first barrier to the impact of transferring body weight to the feet. A thick heel cup will give extra cushion and stability to your feet as they absorb the first part of the gait cycle.

A spacious toe box provides toes with the necessary wiggle room to spread out and function as the balance for the weight distribution though the foot. When testing for a good, spacious toe box try to move your toes around inside the shoe. There should be about a half inch of space at the top area of the toe box and feel no strain on the sides of the toes as they move.

A neutral heel provides your foot with the ability to evenly carry your body. Leave the high heels to shoes that want to focus on fashion, not working nurses shoes.

A lightweight, firm, shock absorbing sole provides the feet with an overall support through the walking cycle.

Aside from these four key factors, there is a combination of nurse shoes features that provides relief to

tension on the Achilles tendon and lowers the stress to the midfoot by distributing pressure evenly through the heel and toes. The combination is a wedged heel, a stiff midsole and a rocker bottom. This support is found on the Dansko style shoes and is why the shoes are popular and well received by nurses with some foot problems.

This combination may be the key to supportive and comfortable nurses shoes for some but this is not the only choice for the right kind of nurses shoes. Using the key factors above a nurse can successfully look for the comfort and support levels they need to happily put many hours on their feet and enjoy their job.

Bed Reviews and Ratings - How Do Memory Foam, Air, Latex and Innerspring Compare

If you are looking for bed reviews and ratings, you are in the right place because I have some important data to share with you.

My research team has conducted extensive bed research by gathering data from over 3,100 bed owners. This article covers the various kinds of beds in order of how they scored in our research.

Latex

Latex beds overall had the best score. About 90% of latex bed owners communicated that their mattress was comfortable in their opinion. Our research suggests that latex beds tend to have a smaller number of downsides than other bed types. Case in point, latex generally has good toughness and tends to not make the sleeper hot or give off a chemical smell initially, at least not as much as most other bed types. Further, a latex bed can be custom crafted to satisfy your personal firmness-level liking.

Memory (Visco-elastic) Foam

Memory foam beds overall scored behind latex beds and about equally to airbeds. Around 85% of memory foam bed owners indicated that they found their bed to be comfortable. The open cell structure of memory foam means it can equally support and contour to every part of the body.

Air

Air beds, like the Sleep Number Bed, scored nearly the same as memory foam mattresses. Air bed owners indicated that they appreciate the reduced pressure points that the air provides as well as the ability to change the firmness by increasing or decreasing air in the bed via an electric pump.

Innerspring Coil

Innerspring beds overall scored at the bottom. Around 55% of innerspring bed owners indicated that their bed provides good comfort. The shortcoming of these beds centers around sagging, in which peaks and valleys appear within just a few years of purchase and work to undermine comfort and support.
